SR500 meets SR400

My SR400 is parked at parents house far far away from Tokyo. Distance is about 330km.

I stopped by parents house before I go to Single-bike meeting at Acti-Mori in Shizuoka prefecture.

This was first time modified SR500 met SR400 sunburst Green.

I customized SR500 like British classic bike and SR400 like street tracker.

I am satisfied with my SR500 and SR400. What should I do next on both SR? I have almost done already.

Time is Yesterday afternoon.

Before I started SR500 modification

The STINKY type-3 tank is very expensive to buy.

So I kept searching used rare tank on Yahoo Auction since I decided going with Type-3 tank.

I won fortunately at 27,500yen = US$280.00 with reasonable price.

A few small dent were on the tank surface,but it was no problem as I painted with black.

That was a beginning of my SR500 modification.

I moved SR500 on Nov.7 2009

I kept my SR500 for 11months at STKINY.

I moved it from STINKY to my Garage of Tokyo where I live in on Nov.7 2009.

On the way to Tokyo at highway, the key got away from key cylinder like a leaf fly away.

I did not pursuit key as I drove at about 90km/hour on highway.

I drove about 103km without stopping to Garage.

Of course,I ordered spare key immediately with quick key maker and received it 3days later.

What a pity first drive.

SR500 custom First step

First step,
The first was finding used SR500 on Yahoo Auction which SR500 still run.
Minor problem was acceptable. Why should we buy running SR500?
Because we have to buy parts additionally when assembling.
Please keep it in your mind “Find running SR500!”.

After receiving SR500 from seller I had to move SR500 to STINKY in Shizuoka prefecture.
It was long distance move, about 280km.

As you know SR400&SR500 are kick-start engine, which is rare these days.
I could not start SR500 engine easily when received from seller.
So I went to SR400 friend house and tried to kick start a lot of time,
Then I could start SR500 finally and could move to STINKY.

I came across STINKY during touring a few years ago.
I stopped by and stared the customized SRs there.
I was deeply impressed because they were so beautiful.
I decided I would customize SR at STINKY someday.

I sold GB500 and then purchased SR500 on Yahoo Auction Oct.2007.
And I started customizing on May 2008 and finished on December 2008.
It was hard time to move from Tokyo to STINKY in Shizuoka prefecture
every time but I really enjoyed customize SR at STINKY.

I spent a lot of money for last SR500
So this SR400 theme is “Customize with lowest cost”.

After receiving SR400, I changed parts as follows;
I changed to
Genuine Sun burst green tank, used
POSH super low bar,p/n: 030068-09
Bullet green grip,ALCAN p/n:G20005A
Mini speed meter
Bates head light,used
WM lucas tail light, used p/n:WM-1183
Shortened rear fender done by local shop
